NANS Southwest, Osun Police Deepen Collaboration to Address Youth Violence and Political Thuggery

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Osun State Police Command to advance youth-focused interventions against political violence and social vices.

The understanding was reached during a high-level engagement between NANS Southwest Coordinator Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode and Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan, where both sides examined the growing security implications of youth involvement in politically motivated violence.

The Police Commissioner argued that political actors often avoid direct involvement in violent confrontations while recruiting young people to carry out unlawful activities, leaving them to face the legal and personal consequences.

To address the challenge, NANS Southwest announced plans for a multi-state advocacy campaign focusing on civic responsibility, leadership development, peaceful participation in democratic processes, and the dangers of cultism, drug abuse, and political thuggery.

The Osun State Police Command pledged institutional support for the initiative, reinforcing a shared commitment to strengthening public safety, youth development, and community engagement across the Southwest.
