NANS Escalates Pressure on Security Agencies Over Ogun Student Killing

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has announced a coordinated intervention in Ogun State following the killing of Ahmed Sekinat, a final-year student of D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic.

The student organisation said the move reflects growing concern over the inability of existing security measures to adequately protect students living in communities surrounding tertiary institutions.

NANS is requesting operational improvements from security agencies, including increased intelligence gathering, rapid-response policing, enhanced patrol coverage, and accountability for unresolved attacks involving students.

The association also urged the Inspector-General of Police to assess the capacity of the Ogun State Police Command in addressing persistent security threats affecting educational communities.

Observers say the intervention reflects increasing demands for stronger public safety measures as insecurity continues to affect higher education across parts of Nigeria.
