From Student Activism to National Leadership: NANS Southwest Commends Sunday Asefon's Appointment

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has congratulated former NANS National President and Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Students Engagement, Comrade Sunday Asefon, on his appointment as the National Director of Student Engagement and Mobilization of the City Boy Movement.

The appointment places the former student leader in another strategic national position focused on youth mobilization, civic participation and student engagement across the country.

Asefon formally presented his appointment letter to the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, where he reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening youth participation in governance and supporting initiatives that advance national development.

Reacting to the development, NANS Southwest Zone D described the appointment as a reflection of the increasing recognition being accorded to leaders who emerged from the Nigerian student movement.

The Coordinator of the Zone, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (BILLIONCODES), said the appointment demonstrates the relevance of student leadership in shaping future national leaders and public administrators.

According to him, Comrade Asefon has consistently shown dedication to the welfare of students and the advancement of youth-oriented policies, making him a suitable choice for the role.

NANS Southwest also noted that the appointment could strengthen communication between government institutions and the student community, particularly on issues relating to education, youth development and civic engagement.

The association wished the former NANS President a successful tenure and expressed confidence that he would bring his experience, organisational capacity and understanding of student issues to bear in his new assignment.
