Kaywhytee emerges as NANS Osun JCC chairman-elect as Zone D demands unity, accountability

Comrade Kehinde Ayokunle Temiloluwa, popularly known as Kaywhytee, has emerged as the Chairman-elect of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council, Osun Axis.

His emergence has attracted a congratulatory message from the leadership of NANS Southwest Zone D, which described the transition as an important moment for the Osun student constituency.

In a statement signed by the Coordinator of NANS Southwest Zone D, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, the zonal leadership congratulated Kaywhytee while reminding him that the responsibilities attached to the office begin immediately.

The zone said the new chairman must look beyond the political contest that produced his emergence and focus on rebuilding unity among students and student leaders across Osun State.

Zone D urges reconciliation after election

NANS Southwest warned the incoming administration against political victimisation and the creation of divisions between those who supported different candidates during the election.

According to the organisation, the JCC must remain a structure that represents the entire student constituency rather than a platform for personal or sectional interests.

The new leadership was therefore encouraged to embark on broad consultations and ensure that recognised student structures across the state are carried along in its activities.

Student welfare, security top agenda

The zonal leadership identified student welfare and campus security among the issues that should receive immediate attention from the incoming administration.

Other areas highlighted include transportation, accommodation, academic concerns and the relationship between student leaders, tertiary institutions, government and other stakeholders.

NANS Southwest said the JCC chairman must be accessible to students while demonstrating the courage required to advocate for them when necessary.

The organisation also emphasised the importance of maintaining a healthy relationship with institutions and government without compromising the independence of student representation.

“Partnership must never become silence in the face of genuine student concerns,” the zone stated.

Accountability expected from new leadership

The incoming administration was also urged to place transparency and accountability at the centre of its activities.

NANS Southwest argued that the success of a student government should not be determined by the number of programmes announced, but by whether students can identify meaningful improvements resulting from its representation.

The zone also congratulated every candidate who participated in the election, urging all contestants and their supporters to move beyond the electoral contest and contribute towards the development of NANS in Osun State.

It stressed that elections should produce leadership, not permanent enemies.

While reaffirming its commitment to supporting the Osun JCC, NANS Southwest said its support would be directed towards a united, responsible and effective student leadership.

The zonal leadership concluded its message to Kaywhytee with a direct reminder:

“The election has ended; leadership has begun.”

It wished the chairman-elect a successful tenure and expressed hope that his administration would strengthen the Osun student constituency and leave a lasting positive legacy.
